A Pecha. A Tibetan book, made of long strips of paper, in imitation of the Indian palm-leaf manuscripts.
- Scope & Content:
- A woodblock printed unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. In "headed" Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script. This volume contains two separate books. Firstly the Explanatory tantra, which is the second of the four main Amchi texts, the four medical tantras. བདུད་རྩི་སྙིང་པོ་ཡན་ལག་བརྒྱད་པ་གསང་བ་མན་ངག་གི་རྒྱུད་ལས་དུམ་བུ་གཉིས་པ་བཤད་པའི་རྒྱུད་ཅེས་བྱ་བ་བཞུགས་སོ། Followed by the Oral tradition tantra, which is the third of the four main Amchi texts, the four medical tantras. བདུད་རྩི་སྙིང་པོ་ཡན་ལག་བརྒྱད་པ་ལས་དུམ་བུ་གསུམ་པ་མན་ངག་རྒྱུད་ཅེས་བྱ་བ་བཞུགས་སོ།.
Extent: One unbound book consisting of 287 folios and simple wooden covers.
Size and dimensions of original material: 50 cm x 9 cm.
Condition of original material: Some staining and damage to page edges throughout.
Arrangement: Material kept in the household prayer room (not seen). The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet.
