- The manuscript had been sold at Sotheby's on 9 February 1976, then offered for sale in the same year by John Wilson and Richard Macnutt. It was purchased by a collector outside of the UK and an export licence was applied for (see MUS RP 1291), before being purchased from the collector by Albi Rosenthal (of Otto Haas) in the 1980s.
