- Elkington commanded the Solomon in Nicholas Downton's fleet of 1614, which reached Surat in October 1614 and Bantam in June 1615. After Downton's death there on 6 August he succeeded as General of the voyage and following a prolonged loading period sailed for England on the New Year's Gift 22 December 1615. He died on the homeward voyage 22 January 1616.
