This part contains correspondence relating to expenditure on consular buildings, mostly in Persia [Iran], and the division of the cost between the Imperial and Indian Exchequers.
It includes correspondence regarding: the proposal that the house and grounds of the Kermanshah Consulate should be taken over by HM Office of Works, and expenditure on repairs to the Consulate; and the purchase of shares in the water kanat of the Gulahek Legation [the subterranean aqueduct providing the Legation with its water supply].
The file also includes correspondence relating to maintenance costs of the proposed new Consulate at Chiengmai [Chiang Mai, Thailand].
The correspondence is between the following: the India Office; the Foreign Office; HM Office of Works; the Treasury; and the Government of India Foreign and Political Department. In addition, the file includes reference papers sent for comment from the India Office Political and Secret Department to the India Office Financial Department.
