This part contains correspondence concerning India Army officers and Civil Officers loaned to the War Office to conduct work involving administration and interpreting Hindustani due to the First World War. It includes discussion of the terms of their deployment, including rates of pay and allowances.

Revised to 1st July 1916); (ff 314-325) 'List of Civil Officers lent by the Secretary of State to other Government Departments in connection with the War' (Second edition. Revised to 1st April 1916); 'Note as to the List of Civil Officers lent by the Secretary of State to other Government Departments in connection with the War' (338-347) together with an 'Enclosure: List of Civil Officers at home on leave whose services were lent to other Government Departments' (ff 348-356).
