The item consists of copies and extracts of correspondence and resolutions cited in, or enclosed with, letters to and from the Government of Bombay. The item is concerned with the Government of Bombay's decision to pay a pension of 10 rupees per month to the two widows and child of Seuram Suntagee, a carpenter killed by 'pirates' whilst on board the East India Company ship Sylph in the service of Sir Harford Jones during his mission to Bushire [Būshehr]. Correspondence regarding a similar case in 1806 is included in the item.
