This item consists mostly of copies of correspondence, minutes and consultations cited in, or enclosed with, letters to and from the Government of Bombay. The primary subjects are:
- The recent measures taken by the Government of Bombay to counter the alleged piratical activities of the Joasmee [Qawasim], including an expedition carried out against them in 1809, and the deployment of ships to patrol the coast between India and the Gulf
- A request from the Amirs of Scind [Sindh] to the Government of Bombay for assistance in dealing with Joasmee piracy
- The efforts of William Bruce, the Resident at Bushire, to negotiate agreements with the following: Abdulla ben Soud [‘Abdullāh bin Sa‘ūd Āl Sa‘ūd], Emir of Diriyah [referred to as the Wahabee Chieftain]; Hussan bin Rahmah [Ḥasan bin Raḥmah al-Qāsimī], Ruler of Ra's al-Khaymah; and Shaikh Rahmah bin Jauber [Shaikh Raḥmah bin Jābir Āl Jalāhimah]; that the tribes under their influence will not attack British vessels
- The capture by Shaikh Rahmah bin Jauber of a ship from Bussora [Basra], his conveying of the horses found on the ship to Bombay, and details of the property from the ship that remains unaccounted for.
