This item consists of copies of correspondence and minutes cited in, or enclosed with, a military letter from the Government of Madras [Chennai].
The correspondents are Major General Sir John Malcolm; the Government of Madras; and Thomas Henry Somerset Conway, Adjutant General of the Madras Army.
The item concerns Malcolm’s application for permission to return to Europe for the recovery of his health. It contains copies of medical certificates supporting Malcolm’s application, and a General Order issued by the Government of Madras acknowledging his services.
The title page contains the following references: ‘P.C. [Previous Communication] 75, Dr[a]ft 396 – 22/3’ and ‘Military Secretary’s Office 1822’.
