This item consists primarily of copies of correspondence, minutes and resolutions cited in, or enclosed with, political and secret letters from the Government of Bombay. It is the fifth in a series of eight items on affairs of the Persian Gulph [Gulf] (the others are IOR/F/4/988/27714* and 27715*, IOR/F/4/989/27716* and 27717*, IOR/F/4/990/27719*, and IOR/F/4/27720* and 27721*). The main correspondents are the Government of Bombay and Ephraim Gerrish Stannus, Resident in the Persian Gulph.
The item concerns:
- Considerations of how an increase in the strength of the Wahabees [Wahabi] might destabilise the Gulph
- The conflict between Rama bin Jauber [Shaikh Raḥmah bin Jābir Āl Jalāhimah] and Katiffe [Qatif], and the history of Katiffe

- An extension to the General Treaty with the Arab Tribes of the Persian Gulf of 1820, forbidding all hostilities by sea

- The unsuitability of the boat sent to the Captain Michael Bagnold, Political Resident at Mocha, and the possibility of replacing it
