[pp 1-2] Extract from Revenue letter from Fort St George, dated 4th July 1828, regarding the spice gardens of the Tinnevelly District, and information relative to the cultivation of nutmegs and the preparation of them for the European market.
[pp 3-14] Report by J Monro, Collector of Tinnevelly, upon the state of the spice gardens in the Tinnevelly District, dated 12th October 1826. The report gives a brief history of the gardens progress from its formation in 1798, and contains information on the cultivation of nutmeg, clove, chocolate nut tree (cocoa) and coffee in the gardens.
