The item consists of copies and extracts of correspondence and financial statements enclosed within a political letter from the Government of Bombay [Mumbai] to the East India Company Court of Directors, dated 27 November 1841. The item relates to requests made to the former by Captain Samuel Hennell, Resident in the Persian Gulf, and Captain Thomas MacKenzie, Acting Assistant Resident [in the Persian Gulf], for the continued employment of men to guard the vacant Residency buildings in Bushire [Būshehr] whilst the Residency is temporarily based on the island of Karrack [Jazīreh-ye Khārk]. MacKenzie also requests permission to spend money on repairs to the buildings in Bushire. Both requests are passed on to the Government of India for approval.
The correspondents are: Hennell; MacKenzie; and the governments of Bombay and India.
