This item consists of copies of correspondence, consultations, and minutes cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay [Mumbai]. The correspondents are: the Government of Bombay, the Court of Directors of the East India Company; J Pyne, Collector of Customs at Bombay.
The item concerns an explanation of the discrepancy between the valuation of the cargo of the Duria Dowlut by the Customs House in Bombay, and the amount paid in compensation to the owners of the cargo by Captain Samuel Hennell, Resident in the Persian Gulf, following the plunder of her cargo in 1835.
