Dated at Calcutta, concerning news of India, primarily the threat posed by Hyder Ali. Most items, except the certificate and bill of lading of diamonds exist in duplicate. One set of enclosures was shipped on the Northington and the other on the Admiral Pocock. Lists of enclosures for both are also included.
Enclosures shipped aboard the Northington, list at f.186:
- A return of the Troops in Camp under the Command of Colonel Joseph Peach, 24 January 1768 (ff. 187-188);
- Invoices Nos. 4, 9, 10 & 11 for bulses of rough diamonds shipped on board the Northington, 25 February 1768 (ff. 189-196);
- Copy of Committee Letter from the Governor and Council at Bengal to the Court of Directors, 29 February 1768 regarding a ditch made around Chandernagore to drain away excess water, relations with the Maratta Chiefs, payments of annual tributes, Captain Kinloch's failed expedition to Napaul, Mahomed Reza Cawn's failing health, Mr Sykes recents journey to Dinakepoor and Poorneah, and issues surrounding individuals continuing their private trade (ff.197-204);
