ff. 2r-45r : Pseudo-John of Peterborough (fl. 1369), Peterborough Chronicle from AD 654-868, 890-1368, copied in the 2nd half of the 14th century. A continuation from AD 869-899 (ff. 5v-9r), is copied in an early modern hand from the 1st quarter of the 17th century.
This manuscript contains a later addition:
f. 45v: texts and pen trials in Latin and Middle English, added in the 15th and 16th centuries. This includes a Middle English verse about the conversion miracle of St Martin of Tours.
Decoration:
A large decorated initial in red begins the text (f. 2r); smaller initials in red and black on the first line of each page of text.

The Benedictine Abbey of St Peter, St Paul and St Andrew, Peterborough, Northamptonshire, founded in 654 AD: The chronicle is attributed to John of Peterborough (fl. 1369), Benedictine monk of Peterborough Abbey, by a later hand on f. 2r: 'Cronicon Anglia per Iohanem Abbatem Burgi S[an]c[t]i Petri'. The chronicle begins with the foundation of Peterborough in 654AD. An ownership inscription on f. 2r reads: 'Iste liber pertinent ad monasterium de Burgo Sancti Petri, anno domini Dcliiij [654] Amen’.
Thomas Harris, 16th century: ownership inscription on f. 45v: 'Thomas Harrys possidet' (see Tite, The Early Records (2003), p.121).
John Norris, 16th century: ownership inscription on f. 45v: 'Iohannes Nores [?]prauo'.
Mr East, 1621, near Cambridge: reference in a Cotton catalogue, now London, British Library, Harley MS 6018 ff. 147r-191v (see Tite, The Early Records (2003), p. 36).
