Scope & Content:

These folios contain the Life of St Edward the Confessor by Aelred of Rievaulx (b. 1109, d. 1167). This manuscript includes a table of chapters and prefatory letters addressed to King Henry II of England (r. 1154-1189) and Laurence, abbot of Westminster (d. 1173). All these text are listed in Bibliotheca Hagiographica Latina as no. 2423.

Decoration:

Numbers in red and damaged initials in red and green in the table of chapters to the Vita Edwardi (f. 130r-v). Large initials in red and blue and green, with foliate decoration (ff. 131r, 133r).
