Contents:
A collection of pontifical services and prayers originally written for the See of Canterbury. Here, the prayers have been adapted for the use of Exeter Cathedral.
f. 2v: Confirmation, prayers beginning: 'In confirmatione. Episcopus levata manu super capita confirmandorum dicat'.
f. 3v: Excommunication and anathema formula: 'Autoritate Dei omnipotentis patris et filii et spiritus sancti et sancte Dei genitricis Marie Sancte'.
ff. 4r-19v: Blessings of vestments, altar linen, chalice, sacred objects.Rubric. 'Incipit Benedictio ad vestimenta sacerdotalia seu levitica'. Beginning: 'Omnipotens sempiterne Deus qui per Moysen famulum tuum pontificalia seu sacerdotalia atque levitica vestimenta'.
ff. 20v-42r: Consecration of abbot followed by the episcopal benediction for the second Sunday in Advent, Ash Wednesday and Holy Week: 'Ecclesie nostre pater electus fratres karissimi ad est ad suum ordinem suscipiendum'.
ff. 42v-44v: Blessing of altar cloth. 'Dominus vobiscum domine Deus omnipotens qui ab initio hominibus utilia et necessaria creasti quique sacerdotalia vestimenta sacerdotibus et levitis ornamenta'.
ff. 44v-47v: Blessing for pilgrims. 'Accipe hanc sportam itineris tui in nomine domini nostril Ihesu Christi'.
ff. 48r-57v: Exorcism and celebration of a synod. Rubric: ' In consecration cimiterii exorcimus aque'. Beginning: 'Exorcito te creatura aque in nomine Dei patris omnipotentis'.
ff. 57v-61r: Reconciliation of excommunicate. Rubric: 'Incipit de his qui post excommunicationem cum luctu penitentie ad reconcilationem veniunt'.
ff. 61r-65r: Rite of enclosure: 'Si est femina primum iaceat in occidentali parte ecclesie ubi mos est feminis habitare'.
f. 66r: prayer: 'Omnipotens sempiterne Deus parce metuentibus, parce supplicibus et mittere dignare sanctum angelum tuum de celis'.
ff. 66v-67v: Exorcism: 'Exorcizo te creatura salis per Deum vivum'.
Decoration:
Rustic initials in red and green. Some of them are slightly foliated (i. e.: f.f 37v; 43r; 55v). Rubrics in red.
