- Cotton MS Faustina B III, ff 158–198
- Title:
- A list of Roman and Byzantine emperors to Constantine V (d. 775) (imperfect); the Regularis concordia (imperfect)
- Scope & Content:
-
These folios contain part of a mid-11th century copy of the Regularis Concordia (probably composed by St Æthelwold (d. 984), bishop of Winchester or his associates). The Regularis Concordia was intended to help standardise monastic practice in Britain in the late 10th century. The rest of the manuscript is in Cotton Tiberius A III, ff. 174-177. The text seems to have been dismembered by Robert Cotton. Using wormholes and an early modern copy, the original order of the text has been reconstructed as Cotton Faustina B III, ff. 158r-v, Cotton Tiberius A III, ff. 174r-176v, Cotton Faustina B III, ff. 159r-98v, Cotton Tiberius A III, ff. 177r-v (see Ker, Catalogue (1957), no. 155 and Laurence Nowell's transcript in Harley 552).
In the 1st half of the 12th century, a list of emperors was added (ff. 158r–v).
Decoration: Initials and rubrics in red and oxidised red. Initial in red and green (f. 159r).
