To H. [Henry St George] Tucker, Secretary to the Government, from W. [William] Roxburgh, relating to the employment of Nathaniel Wallich. Botanical Garden, 24 Feb 1809. Particular issues/questions include
- Wallich's current and proposed income
- whether Wallich can travel to the eastern frontier, according to Roxburgh a potentially rich field for natural history
- travel expenses
In response, it was ordered that
- the Superintendent of the Garden is informed that the Governor General authorises him to avail himself of the services of Nathaniel Wallich
- the Superintendent should be informed that, if he is of the opinion that Wallich could usefully be employed in botanical researches in the interior of the country, that the Governor General is willing pay his travel expenses
- a copy of the letter from the Superintendent dated 1 Mar 1809 and received in the Proceedings of 10 Mar 1809, along with a copy of the foregoing letter from Dr Roxburgh and the Resolution thereon, be recorded in the Foreign Department
