Letter to J. R. Davidson, Officiating Secretary to the Government of Bengal in the General Department, from William Griffith, Officiating Superintendent, 1 May 1843:
- catalogues which contain an outline of improvements and changes [to the Botanic Garden], and two plans, one showing the Garden as it was in Dec 1842, the other after the proposed improvements and changes have been implemented
- details relating to timber and wood felled, partly to raise funds [see below], but also to prepare for the improvements; increased circulation of air throughout the Garden as a result; diminishment of mixtures of herbaceous plants and forest trees
- the funds raised are to be applied to the improvement of the Garden, which is very incomplete in the Library and Herbarium Departments, and quite defective in many essential sorts of garden supplements and apparatus
- statement of sums raised by the sale of timber and wood from the Botanic Garden, Jan-Apr 1843

Letter to William Griffith, Officiating Superintendent, from [?] A. Turnbull, Under Secretary to the Government of Bengal, 19 Jun 1843:
- acknowledges receipt of letter of 1 May 1843
- His Honour the Deputy Governor of Bengal is of the opinion that the Garden would derive advantage from the publication of parts 1, 5, 6, 7 of the papers submitted; requests printing of 200 copies
- informs Griffith that land on which the Teak Plantation is based will not be sold, and he can makes the alterations on it that he has suggested
- His Honour approves of sums realized by sale of timber and wood, Jan-Apr 1843
