The collection includes a copy of the Public letter received from India, No.91 of 1871, dated 7 September 1871; a copy of the Department of Revenue, Agriculture and Commerce (Land Revenue and Settlement) letter received from India, No.11 of 1871, dated 31 October 1871; and a copy of the Despatch, No.22 of 1872, dated 29 February 1872 (this correspondence refers briefly to the case of Swameeraya Charia bin Runga Charia Kollee of Belgaum).
The Collection also includes copies of the following Acts:
- India, Act XI of 1852 - An Act for the Adjudication of Titles to certain Estates claimed to be wholly or partially Rent-free in the Presidency of Bombay
- Bombay, Act II of 1863 - An Act to facilitate the adjustment of unsettled Claims to exemption from the payment of Government Land Revenue, and to regulate the succession to, and transfer of lands wholly or partially exempt from the payment of such Revenue in those parts of the Bombay Presidency which are subject to the operation of Act XI of 1852 of the Legislative Council of India
- Bombay, Act VII of 1863 - An Act for the Summary Settlement of Claims to exemption from the payment of Government Land Revenue, and for regulating the terms upon which such exemption shall be recognised in future, in those parts of the Bombay Presidency which are not subject to the operation of Act XI of 1852 of the Council of India
