3295: Letter from the Government of India, Home Department, stating that the Bill to regulate the Weights and Measures of British India had received the assent of the Governor General, and had passed into law; and requests that Colonel Strachey may be authorised to communicate with Mr Chisholm, the Warden of the Standards of Great Britain, with the view of submitting recommendations in regard to the course to be followed in obtaining the necessary standards of weights and measures for use in British India; and further requests that a selection of standard works on the subject of weights and measures of England and France may be furnished for the use of the Government of India

The collection consists of a copy of the Public letter received from India, No.41 of 1870, dated 6 April 1870; and copies of the abstract proceedings of the Council of the Governor General of India for the 4th March 1870, 11th March 1870 and the 25th March 1870.
