The album contains 28 loose photographic reproductions (mounted on a board) of watercolour sketches and washes made by Sir Edward Law Durand while attached to the Afghan Boundary Commission between 1884 and 1886. There is also a letter (fixed to the inside cover of the album) from Cuningham to Major Bax of the 11th Bengal Lancers, dated 15th October 1886, regarding the reproductions.

Information in square brackets [] is taken from Mildred Archer, British Drawings in the India Office Library, volume I, (HMSO: London, 1969), pp.170-182. The numbers refer to the number given to each photograph, usually bottom right corner of the board or on the back:
