F. WARLOCK: ‘The Fairest May’, song (words anonymous, from Harley 7578); 6 Nov. 1930. A rewriting of the song ‘As ever I saw’ for voice and string quartet. Autograph score and parts, in ink. The original title is deleted and replaced on the score, but remains on the parts. With a letter from Ian Copley to Tyson, dated 11 Sept. 1965 (ff. 71-2). Original version for voice and piano published Winthrop Rogers, 1919. Purchased by Tyson at Sotheby’s, 20 July 1965 (lot 425).
