Bald's Leechbook (20 remedies), imperfect, incipit: 'Wið þære heal Fdeadan adle and hwanon seo cume seo adl cymð on þa swiðran healfe'; explicit: 'wæteres bollan / Fulne to gedrincanne'.
The text corresponds to chapter 59 of book 2 of the 'Laecebok' or Leechbook, copied by Cild for Bald at the time of King Alfred the Great (849-899), now Royal MS 12 D XVII: the chapter is missing in the Royal copy, but the headings of the recipes it contained can be found in the table of contents on ff. 63v. This manuscript was copied from Bald's manuscript some fifty years later.
