This portion of the manuscript includes three texts sparsely annotated in the margins by Crophill:
- Thyrtty Days of the Mone (ff. 1r-13v);
- Prophecies of Esdras (ff. 13v-16v);
- Cookery recipes (ff. 16v-28v).
Decoration:
Large initial (6 lines; f. 1r) in metallic red (mostly tarnished) on square gold ground with foliate extensions and red inner ground decorated with a green tree, at the beginning of the text. Smaller initials (2-6 lines; ff. 2r-16v) in blue with contrasting penwork decoration in red, paragraph marks in red (ff. 17v-28v) or blue (f. 20v). Numerous marginal pen drawings added by later hands of animals, birds, fish, ships and various figures, illustrating the text.
