36. A particular account of a commission under the Great Seal of Ireland, dated 19 Decem. 1693, for the visitation of the Bishop and Clergy of the dioceses of Down and Connor, occasioned by a general complaint against Dr. Thomas Hackett the then Bishop thereof, and some of his Clergy. fo. 126. It appears that the said Hackett was called the Bishop of Hammersmith, where he was accused of holding auctions for the sale of his livings to the best bidders. Sentence of deprivation ensued on this commission, and severe punishment against the rest of the offending Clergy.
