The Latin translation by Gerard of Cremona (c. 1114-1187) from Arabic sources of Galen's treatise 'Methodus medendi'. The treatise relates to the relationship between natural philosophy and medical knowledge, and Gerard entitled his translation 'De ingenio sanitatis' as attested also in the present manuscript.
Rubric (f. 42r): 'Incipit liber de ingenio sanitatis .Galieni. / translatus a magistro girardo crenonen/si [sic] in toleto de arabico in latinum. Causa .i.e. quaerere / tantum distulit facere librum. Rubrica', incipit: 'Nero karissime / a te et a multis / multis [sic] viribus / rogatus', explicit (f. 112v): 'Et similia quae in libro simplicium / medicinarum scripta sunt. Explicit liber .Galieni. de ingenio / sanitatis quod continet particula .XIIII. translatus / a magistro girardo cremonensi in toleto / de arabico in latinum. deo gracias amen'. The text is divided into 14 particulae or books, beginning respectively on ff. 42r, 47v, 53r, 59r, 65r, 72r, 77r, 82v, 87v, 92v, 97r, 102r, 105v, 109v; each book contains a number of causae or sections, also marked by a coloured initial and a rubric, with some mistakes in the numbering of the sections which are signalled by a later hand in the lower margins (see ff. 48v-49v).
