The collection includes a copy of the Despatch, No.13 of 1868, dated 24 January 1868; and a copy of the following Public letters received from India:
- No.80 of 1867, dated 10 May 1867
- No.150 of 1867, dated 15 August 1867
The collection also includes a report by N R Pogson, Government Astronomer, on the proposed amalgamation of the two Government Observatories of Madras and Bombay, dated 25th February 1867; and a communication from Lieutenant Colonel Walker, Superintendent, Great Trigonometrical Survey of India, to the Secretary to the Government of India, Home Department, dated 23rd July 1867, replying to the questions raised by the Astronomer Royal in connection with the proposed maintenance of the Madras Observatory.
