Medicinal plants at Saharanpur
- Scope & Content:
- Nathaniel Wallich writes to General Department, Government of India, 5 May 1826, enclosing letter from the Medical Board dated 29 April 1826 thanking Wallich for conveying details of experiments made by John Forbes Royle at Saharanpur on medicinal plants and encouraging Royle to continue the work. The Board proposes experiments on the Mussooree tibba and on the hyasyamus, mezrean, foxglove, savine [?], juniper, and peppermint. Board requests more supplies of the samples of rhubarb sent by Royle, a potential substitute for a more expensive foreign drug.
