(2969-73) Letter from James Anderson to Government of Madras, 20 Oct 1789, quoting Hugh Hunter’s account of cochineal insects transported from Barbados to Bristol in 1760 by being attached to living plants. Requests that Court of Directors in London be informed of this method of transportation. (2973-78) Letter from James Anderson to Andrew Berry, 10 Aug 1879, advising on care of plants brought from Nepal and proposing that a well be sunk in the Nopalry garden. (2978-89) Letters, in French, between James Anderson and Messieurs Yoon and Anderson and Lagrence of Isle de France, discussing the plants of that region and the cochineal insects tended there. (2990-93) Letter from Andrew Berry to James Anderson, 18 Oct 1789, reporting on Nopalry garden and describing (2991) the sinking of the well.
