[p 1] Letter from the Government of India, Home Department, No.49 of 1852, dated Fort William 17th September 1852, to the Court of Directors of the East India Company, transmitting a copy of a communication received from the Government of the North Western Provinces, reporting the arrangements which had been made in those Provinces for collecting seeds and plants, and transmitting them to the Court.
[p 2] Public Department letter, No.25 of 1852, dated London 2nd June 1852, to the Governor General of India, stating that the cultivation of Indian plants in England by Agricultural & Horticultural Societies, nurserymen, landed proprietors, and others, had excited much interest, and had been generally attended with success; and requesting that seeds from Indian plants be sent to England in greater variety than had been hitherto sent, with a few being selected occasionally from the warm parts of India, but generally the seeds of useful and ornamental plants from the more temperate districts.
