[pp 1-2] Letter from the Government of India, Foreign Department, No.90 of 1853, dated Fort William 18th October 1853, to the Court of Directors of the East India Company, regarding a proposition for the establishment of a public garden, and model farm, near the city of Amritsar. Government expressed the view that they did not anticipate much from this proposal, but as the amount asked for was small, the experiment could be tried.

[pp 8-10] Letter from R H Davies, Settlement Officer, Bari Doab, to Charles Raikes, Commissioner and Superintendent, Lahore Division, dated Lahore 29th July 1853, submitting details of his proposal to establish a public garden near the city of Amritsar to help promote an improvement in the style of cultivation amoung agricultural and other classes of people in the neighbourhood of Amritsar.
