Proverbial and moral verses transcribed from the walls and ceilings of Percy's houses, Leconfield and Wressel castles, two Yorkshire seats of the family (see Dickens 1955).

• The proverbis of the garett over the bayne at Kekingfelde' (sic); incipit: 'The sermountynge pleasure who can expresse' (f. 195v);
• 'The proverbis in the garet at the new lodge in the parke of Lekingfelde'; incipit: 'When the philosophers Putagoras and Tuball' (f. 198)
• Emblem of a man (Christ?) wearing a crown of flames and holding an orb marked 'Sol' in the centre of a radiating Tudor Rose inscribed with verses 'Ex paterno trono radii splendoris / ex matre candor virginii decoris / ex patre flos rubi coloris / ex utroque redemptio nostri amoris', and tears dropping onto an eye weeping onto a word 'cor', with the Percy badge of a crescent, and a scroll bearing an inscription reading, 'I receyue noo lighte but of thy bearmes bright. The light / benevoulent causith cor to relent for remembrynge / thy goodenes contenuall which remanith perpetuall / Cor cannot but of duti he muste distill yet he saith dutie / cannot recompence a cordinge too his goode will' (f. 200r).
• 'The proverbis in the rooffe of the hyest chawmbre in the gardinge at Lekingfelde'; incipit: 'Esperaunce en dyeu. Truste in hym, he is moste trewe' (f. 201r).
• 'The proverbis in the rouf of my lorde Percy closett at Lekyngfelde'; incipit: 'He that made this hous for contemplacion' (f. 202r).
• 'The proverbes in the roufe of my lordis library at Lekyngefelde'; incipit: 'Drede god and fie from syn' (f. 204v).
• 'The counsell of Aristotell whiche he gave to Alexander kinge of Macedony in the syde of the garet of the gardynge in Lekyngfelde'; incipit: 'Apply to the best gyftis geven to the' (f. 205v).
• 'The proverbes in the sydis of the innere chamber aboue of the house in the garding at Wresill'; incipit: 'When it is tyme of coste and greate expens' (f. 207).
• 'The counsell of Aristotill whiche he gayfe to Alexandre kynge of Massydony, whiche ar writyn in the syde of the utter chamber above of the house in the gardynge at Wresyll'; incipit: 'Pvnyshe moderatly and dyscretly correcte' (f. 209r).
• 'The proverbis in the syde of thutter chamber aboue of the hous in the gardyng at Wresyll'; incipit: 'Remorde thyne ey inwordly' (f. 210r).
