- Title:
- Letter from Dalhousie to Wood, Ootacamund
- Scope & Content:
-
[The dating of these three letters to Wood is doubtful. The dates shown here are those given in Vernon Smith's letter book, but it is clear that the letter dated 20 March from Calcutta must have been written before those dated 14 and 16 March from Ootacamund. Most probably the 20 March letter should be dated 10 March, but possibly those of 14 and 16 should be dated 24 and 26 March]
Begs to be relieved of office by 1 February 1856; failing health makes this essential; confident of performing duties this summer but is conscious he could not do so in plains of Bengal.
