- Disbandment of 19th N.I; 2nd Grenadiers shows signs of repentance, but describes further disturbances in 34th N.I; conduct of Colonels of 19th and 34th is under scrutiny; Lt-Col S G Wheler of 34th a religious zealot and if his regiment's disaffection proves traceable to his indiscretion he may have to be made an example of; has written fully to C-in-C who has had signs of trouble over cartridges at musketry school at Ambala [Anson was evidently not at Calcutta]; has not yet traced any political agency at work among troops and now thinks alarm for religion and caste may be at bottom of trouble.
