The collection contains the following papers:
- Report of M Kempson, Director of Public Instruction, North Western Provinces, on the publications of the Native Presses in the North Western Provinces for the year 1865, with the Lieutenant Governor's orders thereon
- Alleged infraction in the cases of the ships Attiet Rohoman and Eranee of the law regulating the number of emigrants to be conveyed to Mauritius in each ship
- Papers regarding the permission given to Joseph David Ouseley, Assistant Magistrate and Collector of Rajshahye [Rajshahi], to resign the Bengal Civil Service
- Supplemental Rules relating to Emigration from the Port of Calcutta. The Rules concern the inspection of life-buoys, and the examination of the crews of vessels before they are permitted to proceed to sea.
- Notification of the death of Stewart St John Gordon, Additional Member of the Council of the Governor General, on the morning of the 8th March 1866
- Statements showing the charges incurred by the Governor General and the Government of India from the date of the temporary transfer of the Government from Calcutta til its return in 1865
- Revised Rules relating to Emigration from the Port of Bombay
- Notification, dated 2nd April 1866, directing that until further notice the Council of the Governor General shall assemble at Simla
- Supplemental Rules relating to Emigration from the Port of Calcutta. The Rules concern the property of deceased emigrants.
- Communication from C J Brooke, Acting for the Rajah of Sarawak, reporting the safe arrival at Sarawak of the 50 convicts despatched from Port Blair
- Statements showing the extent of the loss of life and property in Bengal caused by the Cyclone of 5th October 1864
- Correspondence regarding the proposed new arrangements for the conveyance by post of official correspondence which come into effect on 1st August 1866
- Copies of Orders and Rules framed under the provisions of the Post Office Act of 1866
- Correspondence regarding an allowance to the Naval Agent in Bombay in charge of Mails on account of expenses incurred in conveying the Mails between the landing place and the Post Office at Bombay.
