The collection includes a copy of the following Public letters received from India:
- No.87 of 1865, dated 16 November 1865
- No.94 of 1865, dated 6 December 1865
The collection contains the following Special Narratives of the Proceedings of the Government of Bengal:
- No.3 (Medical), dated 31st October 1865
- No.4 (Medical), dated 25th November 1865
The names of the patients were William Derrick Sovereign Smith, Thomas Bowen, John Martin, Thomas William Ludlam, John Iveson, John Mahoney, John Finn, George Bosworth, and Hugh Healy. Statements of the cases of the patients are included in the collection.
The connected correspondence contains a brief reference to another insane patient, Samuel McKelvey, a Private in Her Majesty's 58th Foot.
