2011: Correspondence relating to the establishment of a weekly Mail between England and Bombay

The collection includes a copy of the following Post Office letters received from India:
- No.5 of 1865, dated 17 April 1865
- No.7 of 1865, dated 21 July 1865
Also included is correspondence relating to a proposal for additional Mail communication between Bombay and Suez.
Bound (probably in error) with this collection is a printed copy of the Ecclesiastical Proceedings of the Government of India, Home Department, for January 1867, which contains papers on the following subjects as 'A' Proceedings:
- Sanction accorded to a proposal of the late Bishop of Calcutta that the period of service entitling Chaplains to promotion from the junior to the senior rank should be fixed at ten years
- Correspondence with the Archdeacon of Calcutta relating to the question as to who should take charge of the Bishop's Palace at Calcutta, and also of the property with which it is furnished, on the occasion of a vacancy in the office of the Bishop of Calcutta
- Communication from the Government of Bombay soliciting a re-consideration of the decision of the Government of India on the proposal of that Government to pay from the general revenues the charge for a Crew for the Floating Church Ajdaha
- Proposed erection of quarters for the Chaplains at Aden
- Application of the Reverend W Simpson, of the Bengal Establishment, for the commutation of his Furlough to leave on Medical Certificate
There is also a Tabular Statement of matters of routine for the month of January 1867 (B Proceedings).
