Registrum brevium from the royal chancery of Edward III (ff. 170r-304r) with added texts and notes (ff. 304v-309r), including:

  • a writ by Edward III concerning annulment of records in Ireland (ff. 304v-305r).
  • a court verdict against Thomas Layvage (Lainage?) accused of treason in Ireland (ff. 305v)
  • a list of profits of lawyers for the entire year 1420?, heading: 'Incipient primo die Januarii H 5 octavo xxo usque ad eundem diem per unum annum integrum' (f. 305v).
  • a note, incipit 'dies comunes' (f. 308r).
  • ownership notes (se Provenance) and scribblings (ff. 308v-309r)

Decoration:

1 large historiated initials in colours and gold with partial bar borders with ivy, of the Virgin and Child (f. 170r). Large puzzle initial in red and blue with reserved designs and pen-flourishing in the same colours (f. 277r). Numerous large initials in red with purple pen-flourishing or in blue with red pen-flourishing with with reserved designs of foliate motifs (animal head on f. 230v). Paragraph marks in alternating red and blue.
