The collection contains the following papers:
- Resolution of the Government of India, Home Department, together with copies of the several documents therein referred to, on the subject of the disposal of the Surplus Famine Relief Funds
- Report from the Government of the North Western Provinces on the works executed in 1860-61 and 1861-62, from the several grants made for the relief of the starving population of those Provinces during the late famine, together with a copy of the orders passed by the Government of India on it. The report gives information on the following public works: Roorkee and Dehra Road; Road from Gurhmooktesur [Garhmuktesar] Ghat to Ghazeeoodeennuggur near Delhi; Hindun Diversion Works; Futtehgurh [Fatehgarh] Branch, Ganges Canal; Boolundshuhur [Bulandshahr] Branch, Ganges Canal; Rohilkhand Irrigation Works; Budaon and Bareilly Road; Special Works at Agra; Shekoabad Road; and Ajmere and Pokhur Road.
