The collection consists of the following small collections of papers:
- Coll 1, Post Office letter received from India, No.3 of 1860, dated 23 January 1860, submitting a letter from the Director General of the Post Office of India, containing information relative to the provision made for the delivery of letters, books, and newspapers from house to house. The Director General's letter is not present.
- Coll 2, Post Office letter received from India, No.8 of 1860, dated 13 April 1860, drawing attention to an alteration in the colour of the two anna stamp sent from England, and desiring that Messrs De la Rue and Company may be instructed not to make any alteration in the form or colour of postage stamps without authority, and in the particular instance referred to, to revert to the former colour when supplying future indents of two anna stamps.
- Coll 3, Correspondence regarding the refusal on the part of one of the Admiralty Agents appointed to the Contract Mail Steamers to receive packets containing letters addressed to passengers on board. Includes a copy of the Post Office letter received from India, No.9 of 1860, dated 17 May 1860.
- Coll 4, Views of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce on the proposition by H B Riddell, Director General of the Post Office of India, for an alteration in the arrangements of the Overland Mail Service. Includes a copy of the Post Office letter received from India, No.23 of 1860, dated 29 November 1860.
