The collection consists of the following small collections of papers:
- Coll 1, Public letter received from India, No.52 of 1860, dated 21 May 1860, stating that the Viceroy and Governor General had, on the 21st May 1860, returned to the Presidency and resumed his seat as President of the Council.
- Coll 2, Correspondence regarding a Scripture letter circulated among certain Native residents of the North Western Provinces, May to June 1860. Includes a copy of the Public letter received from India, No.55 of 1860, dated 1 June 1860.
- Coll 3, Public letter received from India, No.56 of 1860, dated 4 June 1860, transmitting a copy of a letter, dated 12 May 1860, from the Government of the North Western Provinces, relative to the confiscated estate of Shumsabad in the Azamgarh District granted to A P Dunne for services rendered during the rebellion, and to the confiscated lands in the Goruckpore [Gorakhpur] District.
- Coll 4, Correspondence regarding the grant of a leave of absence on Medical Certificate to Sir James Outram to proceed to England for a period of six months. Includes a copy of the Home Department letter received from India, No.68 of 1860, dated 4 July 1860.
- Coll 5, Public letter received from India, No.69 of 1860, dated 9 July 1860, stating that General Sir Hugh Rose, Commander-in-Chief of Her Majesty's Forces in India, had taken his seat and oaths as an Extraordinary Member of the Council of the Governor General of India on the 6th July 1860.
- Coll 6, Correspondence regarding the sanction by Act No.XXXIII of 1860 of the emigration of Indian labourers to the Colony of Natal, November 1859 to August 1860. Includes a copy of the Public letter received from India, No.86 of 1860, dated 10 August 1860.
- Coll 7, Public letter received from India, No.90 of 1860, dated 13 August 1860, transmitting a report by Captain John G Reddie, Protector of Emigrants at the Port of Calcutta, dated 28th July 1860, as to the cause of the great mortality on board the Emigrant ship Earl of Derby on the last voyage of that vessel to Demerara.
- Coll 8, Public letter received from India, No.113 of 1860, dated 12 October 1860, transmitting papers on the subject of the cultivation of Indigo in the Madras Presidency, which were received by the President of the Indigo Commission after the proceedings of the Commission had been closed, July to October 1860.
- Coll 9, Correspondence regarding the circumstances connected with the despatch of the ship Tyburnia to Trinidad with Emigrants from Calcutta, and the duties of the Protector of Emigrants at the Indian Ports, August to October 1860. Includes a copy of the Public letter received from India, No.116 of 1860, dated 13 October 1860.
- Coll 10, Memorandum, dated 16th July 1860, on the measures which, in the opinion of the Lieutenant Governor of the North Western Provinces, it will be necessary to adopt for the relief of the population of some of the Districts of those Provinces in consequence of the partial failure of the harvest. Includes a copy of the Home Department letter received from India, No.124 of 1860, dated 22 October 1860.
