The collection consists of the following two small collections of papers:

• Coll 1, Correspondence between the Government of India and the Government of Bengal on the subject of a representation from the Emigration Agents of some of the British West India Colonies (Jamaica, Trinidad, British Guiana) regarding certain differences in the regulations for the emigration of Indian labourers to the British and to the Foreign Colonies respectively, September to October 1860. Includes a copy of the Public (Emigration) letter received from India, No.121 of 1860, dated 19 October 1860.
• Coll 2, Communication from T Caird, Emigration Agent for Mauritius, dated 19th October 1860, drawing attention to the wide difference in the proportion of female to male emigrants, in the case of Mauritius under the recent orders of the Home Government, and in the case of the French Colony of Reunion under Act No.XLVI of 1860, and stating his belief that the difference in question will act most prejudicially to the interests of Mauritius and put a stop altogether to emigration to the British West India Colonies. Includes a copy of the Public letter received from India, No.122 of 1860, dated 22 October 1860.
