The collection consists of the following small collections of papers, each of which has a title page, table of contents, and an extract from the Narrative, No.5 of 1860, dated 26th March 1860:
- Coll 1, Reports by the Protector of Emigrants at the Port of Calcutta on the Emigrants who returned from Mauritius on board the ships Startled Fawn, Futha Shaw Allum and Calliope, including a copy of the Deed of Engagement and Bond of the Commander of each vessel, and related correspondence, June 1859 to March 1860
- Coll 2, Letter from Captain John G Reddie, Protector of Emigrants at Calcutta, to Lord H U Browne, Under-Secretary to the Government of Bengal, dated 20th October 1859, stating that he had received reports on the Emigrants landed at Mauritius from various ships, and that they were satisfactory
- Coll 3, Dr A Payne, Second Assistant Surgeon in the Presidency General Hospital permitted to undertake additional duties with the Emigration Department, June 1859 to March 1860
- Coll 4, Papers regarding the detention of the Emigrant ship Henry Moore in quarantine at Mauritius, February 1859 to March 1860
- Coll 5, Correspondence regarding the land required for extending the boundaries of the Emigration Depot at Calcutta, August 1859 to March 1860
- Coll 6, Papers regarding the insufficiency of the dietary scale provided for Emigrants proceeding from Calcutta to Mauritius, August 1859 to March 1860. Included are reports on the immigrants by the ships War Spirit (which arrived at Port Louis, Mauritius, from Calcutta, on the 29th July 1859), Queen Victoria (which arrived at Port Louis, Mauritius, from Calcutta, on the 2nd August 1859) and Calliope (which arrived at Port Louis, Mauritius, from Calcutta, on the 1st September 1859).
- Coll 7, Sanction of the use of the new form of Emigration Certificate proposed by the Government of Mauritius, June 1859 to March 1860
- Coll 8, Order by the Lieutenant Governor of Bengal that the savings of return Emigrants, whether they die at sea or in the Depot, be made over to the Protector of Emigrants, June 1859 to March 1860
- Coll 9, Correspondence regarding the general rule that the unclaimed money of deceased Emigrants is to be carried to the credit of Government after the lapse of 20 years, August 1859 to March 1860
