The collection consists of the following small collections of papers, each of which has a title page, a Table of Contents, and an extract from the Narrative.
Narrative for the 1st Quarter of 1858, dated 15th May 1858:
- Coll 1, Circular issued by the Sudder Board of Revenue, NWP, to the Commissioners in the North Western Provinces directing the submission of lists of estates confiscated in each district, March 1858.
- Coll 2, Disbursement of 114 rupees to 15 Government servants who were wounded and plundered in defending the Shamli Tehsil and Thana in the Moozuffurnuggur [Muzaffarnagar] District against rebels, February to May 1858.
- Coll 3, Incorporation into the rent roll of two confiscated villages of the Muzaffarnagar District belonging to the King of Delhi, February to May 1858.
- Coll 4, Repayment of 20 rupees, the salary of a Pargana visitor, plundered from the Treasury of the Boolundshuhur [Bulandshahr] District by the rebels, February to May 1858.
- Coll 5, Compensation given on account of injury done to crops by the encampment of troops in the Bulandshahr District, January to May 1858.
- Coll 6, Promotion of Roy Doorga Pershad, Deputy Collector in the Bulandshahr District, as a reward for the fidelity and courage displayed in the discharge of his public duties throughout the period of the insurrection, February to May 1858.
- Coll 7, Instructions issued to the officiating Collector of Muttra regarding the confiscation of estates in that district, August 1857 to May 1858. Includes lists of estates recommended for confiscation in Muttra District in consequence of the rebellion of the proprietors.
- Coll 8, Report that the Rajah of Awah had discontinued exercising the functions of Nazim of Parganas Jullesur [Jalesar] and Saidabad on 25th December 1857 and recommending that adjudication of his claim for service rendered during the rebellion should remain in abeyance, February to May 1858.
- Coll 9, Promotion of Lalla Dabee Pershad and Lalla Isree Pershad in the Etawah District in recognition of the good service rendered by them to the State, February to May 1858.
- Coll 10, Promotion, Khillats and rewards granted in the Etawah District to Kour Luchman Singh for courage and fidelity displayed during the period of the rebellion, and to Bhowanee Singh, leader of the Bunsia men, and the Matchlockmen, for the successful attack on the rebels near Anuntram, February to May 1858.
- Coll 11, Correspondence regarding the petition of Lalla Hursahai, late Extra Assistant Commissioner at Sultanpur in Oudh, soliciting temporary employment as deputy Collector at Cawnpore or Fatehpur, on the grounds that he had effected the escape of Mr Goldney and certain ladies from Oudh, February to May 1858.
- Coll 12, Compensation for injury done to standing crops in the Cawnpore District by Sikh horsemen, February to May 1858.
- Coll 13, Promotion of W Glynn, Deputy Collector of the Fatehpur District, to the 1st grade, in recognition of the services rendered by him during the late disturbances, January to May 1858.
- Coll 14, Correspondence regarding the conduct of Nawab Uttaoollah Khan in the late rebellion, and the question of the Nawab's rent free estates in the Allahabad District being resumed on his death, September 1857 to May 1858.
- Coll 15, Compensation for injury sustained by the destruction of green crops by the Sikh Cavalry in the Allahabad District, February to May 1858.
- Coll 16, Payment of a uniform rate of 5 annas per bullock per day for cartmen, including halts and excluding return hire, as an exceptional arrangement to last only so long as carriage was needed for the intensive military movements, March to May 1858.
- Coll 17, Rate of pay for carts hired for the service of Government, February to May 1858.
- Coll 18, Sanction given to the proposal by the Collector of Azamgarh that Mr Venables, Deputy Collector of Azamgarh, should be allowed to accompany Brigadier General Frank's Force into Oudh in the capacity of Civil Officer, February to May 1858.
- Coll 19, Compensation to Jhoree Koormee, inhabitant of Koelsa, for certain crops which were cut down by order of Captain G W Boileau whilst encamped in that locality, February to May 1858.
- Coll 20, Arrangement for the safe custody of the Mirzapur District collections, February to May 1858.
- Coll 21, Proposal to exempt from attachment a temple and endowment, the property of the sons of Benaik Rao in Benares, whose property was confiscated on account of their late rebellious proceedings, January to May 1858.
- Coll 22, Disbursement on account of the temporary Establishment of a guard for the Treasury and Government records in the Benares District since the breaking out of disturbances in June 1857.
- Coll 23, Report of the destruction of records during the Mutiny in four districts of the Saugor Division, February to May 1858.
- Coll 24, Grant of a pension to the widow and children of Lushkurree, a Revenue Chaprasi, who was killed while in the execution of his duties by the rebels in the Jubbulpore District, February to May 1858.
- Coll 25, Maharajah of Gwalior authorised to assume charge of the Gwalior ceded Parganas of Madhogarh and Indoorkee in Jalaun and Bhunderee in Jhansi since the occurrence of the recent mutinies, January to May 1858.
- Coll 26, Memoranda and notes by A O Hume and others relating to the restoration of proprietary possession disturbed during the late insurrection, together with a proposed draft Bill by W Muir for the adjustment of such proprietary possession in several districts of the North Western Provinces, November 1857 to May 1858.
- Coll 27, Papers relating to rules for the guidance of District officials on the reintroduction of Revenue administration into disturbed districts, September 1857 to May 1858.
- Coll 28, Acknowledgment of the praiseworthy conduct of Messrs Gorement and Roberts, Customs Officers in the Delhi District, in capturing 24 noted criminals, 6 of whom were concerned in the murder of Mr Taylor of the Railway Department, November 1857 to May 1858.
- Coll 29, Correspondence regarding grants of succour to sufferers by the mutinies, January to May 1858.
- Coll 30, Sanction given for T A Brown, Deputy Collector of Agra, to draw his personal allowance granted for meritorious services, with retrospective effect from 15th June 1857, December 1857 to May 1858.

- Coll 36, Allowances made to Goolzaree Lall Moonserim in the Settlement Department of the Sultanpur District in Oudh from October 1857 to the end of April 1858 for services rendered by him to the officers in Rohilkhand, April to July 1858.
- Coll 37, Report that none of the individuals convicted of rebellion in the Meerut Division were holders of Government securities, January to July 1858.
- Coll 38, Collector of Muzaffarnagar authorised to remove from the Inefficient Balance of his Treasury sums expended on account of the mounted dak Establishment during the rebellion, between Meerut, Kurnaul [Karnal], Muzaffarnagar and Shamli, April to July 1858.

- Coll 60, Reduction of the revenue of the village of Matound [or Matanud] in the Banda District to the extent of 4,000 rupees in recognition of the good conduct of the inhabitants, and the bestowal of a Sela and Pugree [Pagri] of the value of 500 rupees on Moorlee Lumberdar as a reward for special services rendered to fugitives, August 1857 to July 1858.
- Coll 61, Sums written of to "Profit and Loss", being the amount of cash, and the value of opium, stamped paper and postage stamps, plundered by the rebels during the Mutiny from the Banda Treasury, June to August 1858.
- Coll 62, Dismissal of two Deputy Collectors, Abdul Hadi and Wahid Ali, as a result of their conduct during the late disturbances in the Gorakhpur District, January to July 1858. Includes a translation of the defence given by the two men of their actions.
- Coll 63, Rewards conferred on the heirs of Jignoo Tewarry and others who died fighting on the side of Government during a rebel attack at Chunderpore Ghat in the Gorakhpur District, April to July 1858.
- Coll 64, Confiscation of the property of certain absconded rebels in the Gorakhpur District, April to July 1858. Includes a list of the absconded rebels with details of the case against each one.
- Coll 65, Bestowal of the proprietary right in the confiscated estate of the rebel Rajah of Nuggur [Nagar] on the Rajah of Bansi as a reward for his unshaken loyalty and in recognition of the valuable services rendered by him to the British Government during the insurrection in the Gorakhpur District, May to July 1858.
- Coll 66, Death of E F Venables, Deputy Collector and Deputy Magistrate of Azamgarh, who died in consequence of a wound received in the action of the 15th April with the rebels who invaded that District, April to July 1858.
- Coll 67, Compensation to the proprietors of the houses in the vicinity of the Fort at Chunar in the Mirzapur District which were removed to ensure the safety of the fort, February to July 1858. The collection includes lists giving the names of the owners of the houses and the amount of compensation, and a colour sketch of the area around the fort.
- Coll 68, Appointment of Rae Hingun Loll as deputy Collector and Deputy Magistrate of Jounpore [Jaunpur] with retrospective effect from the 13th July 1857, October 1857 to July 1858.
- Coll 69, Request by G R Evans, an Indigo Planter in the Jounpore District, for legislative confirmation of the compromise he had arranged with certain cultivators in the district regarding the destruction of his factories and indigo plants, April to July 1858.
- Coll 70, Alienation and disposal of estates forfeited by the proprietors who had been concerned in the late insurrection in the Saugor Division, October 1857 to July 1858.
- Coll 71, Report by Major W C Western, Deputy Commissioner of zillah Saugor, regarding certain confiscated properties in that district, dated 26th May 1858. The report includes a list of rebels with details of their property.
- Coll 72, Expunging of an item of plundered treasure from the Treasury accounts of the Jubbulpore District, April to July 1858.
- Coll 73, Request by the Superintendent at Jhansi for instructions for his guidance in the collection of outstanding arrears of revenue in the districts of Jalaun, Jhansi and Chundeyree [Chanderi], March to July 1858.
- Coll 74, Correspondence regarding the revenue administration of the Jhansi District, May to July 1858.
- Coll 75, Report by the Commissioner of Neemuch that no landed estates had been confiscated in that district, and that no occasion had arisen for the confiscation of property, April to July 1858.
