- Letter no.45 of 1852 from Lieutenant-Colonel Samuel Hennell, Resident in the Persian Gulf, to Colonel John Taylor, Acting British Agent at Bussorah [Basra]
- Scope & Content:
- The letter reports that a boat from Hindoostan [Hindustan] carrying seventy slaves has arrived at Mohumrah (Khorramshahr). Hennell states that Shaikh Jabir of Bushire) did not allow the slaves to be landed, suggesting that the report is probably an invention of the Shaikh, as a cover for slaves being landed under the Persian flag. Hennell requests that Taylor make enquiries into the validity of these claims.
