Letter regarding the delay of the arrival of cables for new telegraph lines and his hopes that Pelly had an opportunity to meet Mr Murdoch Smith and discuss his explorations in Central Asia and North Africa.
The letter goes on to discuss Sir Bartle's belief in the importance of having a 'good man' in the Gulf, an area he sees as becoming of more and more importance and thanking Pelly for the jewels, curiosities and greyhounds that Pelly has sent to him.
