- Letter from James Farish, Acting Secretary to the Government, Bombay, to Lieutenant William Bruce, Acting Resident, Bushire
- Scope & Content:
- Letter instructs Bruce to procure a quantity of raw silk (of the finest quality), Carmenia wool, and Persian carpets for an amount not exeeding 50,000 rupees. Includes the following enclosures: a report, dated 24 October 1812, addressed to G[eorge] Vandeput Drury, Export Warehouse Keeper, on the samples of Carmenia wool and Ghilan [Gilan] silk that were recently consigned by Lieutenant Robert Taylor to Bombay; an extract of a letter, dated 6 June 1810, from the Court of Directors, expressing its desire to procure Carmenia wool for the European market; two further extracts of letters, dated 12 March 1776 and 2 March 1768 respectively, from the Court of Directors, on the subject of importing silk from Bushire.
