Letter informs Bruce that the East India Company's interests in Persia shall extend to the Port of Muscat. Warden also discusses a financial dispute that has been brought to the attention of the Imam of Muscat [Sa‘īd bin Sultān Āl Sa‘īd]. Includes the following enclosures:
- A translation of a coulnameh [treaty] (12 October 1798), made with the Imam of Muscat, giving the British East India Company exclusive trading rights.
- A copy of a renewed agreement (18 January 1800), made between the Imam of Oman and Captain John Malcolm, on behalf of the Governor General.
- A copy of a letter (12 October 1810) from Neil Benjamin Edmonstone, Chief Secretary to the Governor General at Fort William, to Francis Warden, Chief Secretary to the Government, Bombay, concerning William Smith of Calcutta and his claim that he has been been defrauded of property by a subject of Muscat.
- A copy of a letter (3 October 1810) from Smith to Edmonstone regarding his claim.
- An enclosure to Smith's letter (12 January 1810), regarding power of attorney.
- A translation of a letter (5 May 1811) from Seyd Sueed [Sa‘īd bin Sultān Āl Sa‘īd], Imam of Muscat, to Jonathan Duncan, Governor of Bombay, regarding Smith's claim.
- A copy of a letter (23 August 1811) from Edmonstone to Warden.
