Letter confirming acknowledgement of Kemball's previous correspondence (ff 227-231), with enclosures:
1) A copy of letter no. 453 (f 233) from Richard Spooner, Acting Collector of Customs at Bombay to Henry Goldsmid, Secretary to the Government Bombay, dated 17 May 1852. The letter responds to the claims of slaves being transported from the Indian province of Hindustan to the Persian Gulf;
2) A draft notification (f 234), entitled 'For the information and guidance of the commanders, masters, or nacodas of Indian vessels trading with the Persian Gulf', signed by the Acting Collector of Customs and dated 17 May 1852, which warns of penalties against any 'commanders, masters or nacodas' who are unable to present their ship's papers at the demand of British representatives;
3) A copy of letter no.2973 of 1852 (f 235) from Malet to Spooner, dated 5 July 1852, in which Malet acknowledges receipt of Spooner's previous letter (f 233), stating that a notification to address the issue will be published in the Government Gazette, once translations into native languages have been completed;
4) Notification (f 236) for the information and guidance of the commanders, masters, and nakhodas of native vessels trading between the westen coast of India and the Persian Gulf, dated 5 July 1852;
5) Rules (ff 236-237) for guidance of vessels carrying a British pass and flag to the Persian Gulf, dated 8 July 1831.
